Airport Hello’s!

I like to see people united, I like to see people run to each other, I like the kissing and the crying, I like the impatience, the stories that mouths can’t tell fast enough, the ears that aren’t big enough, the eyes that can’t take in all of the change, I like the hugging, the bringing together, the end of missing someone. I could sit in an airport arrival terminal all day just watching people say hello to loved ones. It makes me smile. It makes my heart happy. Airports are simply an amazing place filled with love. I’ve stood there waiting for people many times and two days ago as Donna and I eagerly steered our trolley of luggage in and out and around the throng of passengers making their way slowly to the arrivals door, eager to see who waited for us on the other side.

The doors to arrivals swooshed open as we approached, we were just short of running, we scanned the crowds of people waiting for loved ones, then we saw them and waved our arms in the air. The next thing I see is a flash of colour on the left side of the railing, someone was running.  Everything else became a blur, the flash of colour skidded to a halt at the end of the railings to do an about turn and then the flash of colour was heading straight for me. I threw my head back and laughed as  I realised who it was and abandoned our trolley of luggage in the middle of the pathway and opened my arms wide. At the speed of light, my precious godson, Keagan, came crashing into me, arms squeezing tightly around me in the best hug ever!

I looked up and next up was my parents and my best friend, Natalie who had come to meet us in the middle of the pathway too.

Hugs all around, long, tight squeezes, it felt like it was months since I was last home. Everyone else standing around was a blur, all I saw was my loved ones.
