A Wall, A Three-Wheeler & A Car Granny Would Be Embarressed By!

“The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences.” ~ Eleanor Rooseve

The last few days I am seriously lacking energy, let alone inspiration!

I’m missing people who are not here, I have not been on a mountain in over a week and between oversleeping and bad weather my training walks are just not happening. To say it has been a dismal week is an understatement!  On top of all of that, all I want to do is stuff my face with junk food and any other food I consider yummy. The list in my head is growing ever longer. I don’t know what is wrong with me. But talk about will-power ~ I have not yet given in to any of it – yet. Unheard of that I tell you, maybe it’s the new ‘fit’ me!

Besides my severe food cravings the last few days, April is off to a slow start. March madness is over thought and I finally have time to catch up on all the things that I need to. My hiking partner is away in Clanwilliam for a few days so no mid-week hiking but looking forward to playing a bit of catch up on the mountain over the long Easter Weekend.

Now considering I have nothing interesting to share with you all so far this week, I thought I would share some of my future adventures that literally give me ‘ants in my pants’ every time I read something about them. Consider yourselves lucky, even though I have shared these on my bucket list, there are only a few people who know when I want and why I want to do it. Should you read further and start with the eye-popping and shaking your head craziness again, be sure to go back and re-read my post Who You Calling Crazy?

My first adventure up after summiting Kilimanjaro will be Great Wall of China next year with Donna. There are no set plans yet, just the idea that this is our next adventure and another item to cross off our bucket list. We have plans to do one big item on our list a year…..

But two that really, really excite me are these ones.  It’s from a group called The Adventurists, people who are trying to eliminate world boredom while at the same time raising huge amounts of money for different charities. Call me crazy again, but these just scream a big resounding YES inside of me from the moment I first heard about them! For the first one I have this idea that I am going to round-up a few of my equally crazy friends for my 40th birthday and drag  them off to Peru for two weeks on this insane adventure called the Mototaxi Junket. The Adventurists have this to say about it:

“3,500km across Peru in a three-wheeled mototaxi, over the Andes mountains and through the Amazon jungle. Rarefied adventuring stupidity in its finest form. “

The Adventuristis have this to say about the Mototaxi (the mode of transport that would be used).

“Imagine a motorbike. Then imagine a smaller one. Then cut it in half and stick a not terribly comfy sofa on the back. With three wheels, half an engine, steering that works faultlessly in straight lines and brakes that slow you down gently, the Mototaxi re-defines modern travel in the 21st century.

Experience the thrill of driving slightly faster than you can walk. Totally unreliable, totally unsafe and totally rubbish. The perfect adventuring machine.”

How could anyone not want to do this?! This is so my kind of adventure!

Check out this latest video The Adventurists downloaded about this adventure!

But the real biggie I want to do is called the Mongol Rally. This one might have to wait a little while until my knight in shining armour rocks up! You see, I want to do this one for my honeymoon….. Me and my crazy-ass groom off for six weeks of pure insaneness! I mean if I get married, I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate.

The Adventurists have this to say  about the Mongol Rally:

“Imagine you’re lost in a massive desert, hundreds of miles from civilisation, driving a car your granny would be embarrassed by. Then all of a sudden all your wheels fall off and the search for tools turns up a dirty sock and two dried apricots. That’s the Mongol Rally – 10,000 miles of pure adventure over mountains, deserts and some of the most remote terrain on the planet.”

Watch the video below from The Adventurists to catch a glimpse of some of the craziness from last years race ~ Seriously, how could you not want to?

My day started off not so good, slow and totally uninspiring, but just watching these again have made my day all better!!!

How can I not get excited for being alive?

How can I not get excited about the life that lies ahead of me?

Inspiration re-found!

Let’s have chocolate cake to celebrate!
